20th April 2008 - Guro Cass Magda Seminar
Students from around the UK made their way to the Impact Academy in Stoke to see Guro Cass for a two day seminar. The weekend covered all of the arts within the Magda Institute martial arts curriculum. The Kali topics covered included some double-stick attack and defend strategies, Sumbrada and the correct way to train in to improve your stick sparring skills. The Silat covered some knife vs. empty hand counters and recounters as well as other applications.
It was a full house at the school, so make sure you book a place early for the next seminar in October.

Congratulations to Nick Roberts for getting gold and James O-Riordan for getting silver in their respective weight categories in the white belt division. That’s two more medals for Impact and Escorrega!
Also, congratulations to Jon, Res and Mike for taking part! All that hard work is paying off!

16th February 2008 - Three silver medals at the Bristol BJJ Open!
Congratulations to all that competed at the Bristol Open on the 16th February 2008. Three Impact team members brought back silver medals. Congratulations to Ashley Snape, Alex Moss and James O’Riordan! For most of the people that competed, it was their first competition and everyone had a lot of fun and gained a lot of experience from the event.
Overall, Impact Academy placed 9th. Not bad for our first competition as a team!
