12th November2006 - Belts Awarded by Lagarto
Congratulations to Simon McGovern for getting his purple belt in BJJ. Dave Hardy and Mark Elliott were also awarded their blue belts. Many others were given tabs to their belts as well.
Well done to you all. It was well deserved!
29th October 2006 - Simon McGovern is awardeded Full Instructorship
Simon McGovern was awarded the title of Full-Instructor by Cass Magda. He has become the first and only person in the world ever to achieve the title of Full-Instructor under Dave Carnell, and the first second generation instructor to achieve Full-Instructor status under Cass Magda and the M.I. Association.
Well done Sifu!
29th October 2006 - Instructor Training Workshop
All the Impact instructors and staff members met up for what seemed like four hours of training. The area that Sifu Dave made us concentrate on was Pentjak Silat, and the study of the langkahs, with focus on the Lima. Another enjoyable, but intense workshop!
14th and 15th October 2006 - Cass Magda Seminar
The two day seminar covered JKD, Kali and Silat, and how each of the arts would deal with certain attacks. Once again, it was an excellent seminar!
6th August 2006- Carlos Lemos Interview

8th and 9th July 2006 - Carlos Lemos Jr Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Seminar & Grading
"Escorrega" was in town for a seminar and grading. He will be at the school every month to oversee the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instruction at the academy. Congratulations to all those that graded under Carlos. Sifu Dave was awarded another three tabs by Master Carlos. Gary Gregory and myself were delighted to be awarded our blue belts. Great achievements by all that graded! Well done!
6th May 2006 - Seni 2006 Gracie Invitational
Congratulations to all the Impact guys that entered the Gracie Invitational BJJ tournament. Simon walked away with the gold in the blue belt under 64kg and Wes came second in the under 70kg white belt division. Well done guys!
29th & 30th April Cass Magda Seminar
Sifu Cass made his first trip to the UK in 2006 for a two-day seminar on Kali and Silat. It was good to see Sifu Cass again and learn more about the South-East Asian martial arts.
16th April 2006 - Felipe Souza BJJ Seminar
Thanks to everyone that attended the BJJ Seminar today. Felipe is a great teacher and friendly guy! We look forward to seeing him again soon!
11th & 12th February 2006 - TIM TACKETT SEMINAR
Tim Tackett was in the UK and taught a two-day seminar covering JKD. A lot of material was covered, including how to train your lead straight to hit hard many other developments made by him and the Wednesday Night Group. Cheers Tim. We hope to see you again soon.
5th February 2006- FELIPE JERRY SEMINAR
A big thanks to Gracie Barra Black Belt, Felipe Jerry for coming to Stoke and teaching us some new stuff.
27 January 2006 - NEW SILAT CLASS EVERY THURSDAY 8:30-9:30
There will be a new Pentjak Silat class every Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 (after the Kali class). The class is open to all levels. For more information on what Silat is, go the curriculum section on the site.
26th & 27th November 2005 - RICK YOUNG SEMINAR
Rick was in Stoke-on-Trent on the 26th and 27th November to do a seminar on Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. A lot of gi and no-gi material was covered, including a variety of sweeps, submissions, guard passes etc. Thanks to Sifu Rick!
30th October 2005 - COMBAT SPORTS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Well done to Mike Beckett for winning the Combat Sports Welterweight division for 2005!
