Cass Magda Seminar
Sifu Cass Magda, our chief instructor and head of the Magda Institute was in the UK for a two-day seminar. The two days were devoted to Kali-Escrima and Pentjak Silat.

Here are some pictures of the event. We all look forward to seeing Sifu Cass again in 2006!

Good results for Team Impact once again in this semi-pro MMA show:

Date: 10th September 2005 - The Battleground MMA Competition in Middlesbrough

Congratulations to all the Impact guys that entered this MMA tournament. Neal Haxton, Simon McGovern, Mike Beckett and Ian Fell all won their fights. Neal won his fight with a doctors stoppage from a well-timed jab. Simon McGovern won with an armbar in the first minute of round 1. Mike Beckett won after his opponent verbally submitted. Ian Fell won with an arm triangle/gator roll (whatever you want to call it!). Unfortunately, Wes Trevelyan lost after getting caught in a triangle. Better luck next time, but I'm sure you've learnt a lot from the experience.

Simon, Mike and Neal will be fighting again at "Battle in Brigg 4" on the 17th September. Results will be posted soon.

The Impact Martial Arts Academy in Stoke hosted a seminar with Gracie Barra Black Belt, Felipe Jerry. Here are a few pics:

Date: 29th July 2005 - CageWarriors Quest 2 (Sheffield Octagon Centre)

Simon McGovern from Impact Stoke won his MMA match! He fought Dan Munroe (Urban Combat Leicester) and won via Ground and Pound. The referee stopped the fight 2 minutes and 10 seconds into round 2. Nice one Simon! We hope you have many more wins in future!

Date: 23rd July 2005 - Goshin Ryu Total Combat 13

Instructor Mark Elliot defeated his opponent in a pro-rules MMA match at Total Combat 13 in the County Durham. Mark won by knockout 4 minutes and 47 seconds into Round 1. Congratulations from all of us at Impact!

Date: 25th June 2005 - Gracie Barra Manchester BJJ Invitational

Simon McGovern and Steve Wan from the Impact Academy in Stoke and also Matt Callaghan, Nigel Appleyard and Stuart Fell from the Preston school recently competed in the Gracie Barra Manchester Invitational in Bolton. To find out what happened, visit this link:

Date: 19th June 2005 - Joao "Sal" Rangel Seminar

On the 19th June The Impact Academy in Stoke invited Gracie Barra Black Belt Joao "Sal" Rangel to conduct a three hour seminar in Brazilian JiuJitsu. A variety of quality techniques were taught, from takedowns to attacks from the guard.

Date: 28th May 2005 - Victor Gendrano Seminar

Victor Gendrano, an instructor under Dan Inosanto, visited the Impact Academy in Stoke for a one day seminar on the South-East Asian martial arts. The seminar was split into two parts. First half of the seminar concentrated on Harimau Silat. Various warm-up exercises, evasions, attacks and takedowns were taught. The second half of the day consisted of Kali training. Sifu Victor demonstrated various stick locks and tie-ups.
